Corey Wells

Taking time today to remember Corey Wells who passed away yesterday. He was one of the founding singers in Three Dog Night. Along with Danny Hutton and Chuck Negron, he etched wonderful music into my memory book. I first saw Three Dog Night while attending UK, and hearing any of their songs always reminds me of those special college days. The last time I saw the group was in West Palm Beach when the three singers and their original band performed at the old auditorium. After the show, I had the opportunity to talk with Corey and Danny Hutton. I remember Corey being especially kind and attentive. At the time, I was looking to possibly promote some local bands, and I didn’t quite know how to do it. Corey stood outside his tour bus for nearly thirty minutes advising me and describing some hurdles I’d have to jump over to become a successful promoter. I finally thanked him for a fabulous concert and his sage advice. As I turned to walk away, I noticed a line of fans, mostly females, waiting to meet him. Who knew? Corey never hurried me or lost patience with me. I felt so honored — just as I still do today. Rest in Peace, Corey Wells. God has patiently been waiting for you.
